Still on female-led health tech products in Africa. One of the many issues plaguing the continent is access to medications. As I mentioned in the last issue, medical care is expensive, so many either go the herbal route or are unable to adhere to their prescriptions. And there are cases where the medications are scarce even though you have the money.
Take Di’ja, a Nigerian celebrity, for example. She needed a medication for her child and visited eight pharmacies in Lagos to no avail. She tweeted about it and was lucky to be directed to today’s featured product. 5 hours later, the medication had gotten to her, but the question on my mind is this:
If a celebrity like Di’ja couldn’t get her medication from 8 pharmacies, what is the fate of the average Nigerian?
This is one of the problems this week’s product is solving, which is why I’m excited to feature them. Let’s get to it.
