We’re keeping things light and breezy this week, so there is no article today. I decided to keep this issue short for a lot of reasons. The main reason is that I’ve been swamped and unable to complete any of my articles. My backlog of uncompleted articles has been staring at me and judging me, but it’s all good. I hope I’ll have completed at least one by next week; we’ll see.
This week, we’re spotlighting some interesting health technology startups solving vital health-related problems for Africans. Anyone that has received healthcare in any African country knows that there are a lot of issues in that sector. So here are some notable startups working hard to solve some of those problems.

PneumaCare: PnuemaCare is a platform that seeks to consolidate healthcare in Africa through a digitally connected healthcare data and service ecosystem that connects patients, developers and healthcare providers. They also have offerings that make it easy for people to launch a digital health product.
Zest: Zest is a platform that empowers patients, providers & payers to address the root cause of diabetes, hypertension, and other chronic conditions while lowering the cost of care. Zest provides holistic care to those in need by allowing them to track their key vitals. They also provide information that helps people better manage their health conditions.
WellaHealth: WellaHealth is a platform that allows people easily access quality and affordable healthcare. They provide health plans that make health coverage and medication cheaper and a telemedicine service you can access anytime.
Sila Health: Sila Health is a platform that seeks to connect uninsured patients to healthcare providers on existing chat apps. They help patients manage and find information on easily treatable conditions. Folks in the diaspora can purchase healthcare plans for their family in Africa.
Meuve: Meuve is a fitness & wellness platform that rewards and incentivizes physical activity with relevant rewards and benefits from consumer brands and organizations. Users can select from an array of timed fitness challenges and earn rewards for completing their challenges.
Akoma Health: Akoma Health provides quality mental health care and support for Africans in Africa and around the world. They provide convenient and hassle-free on-demand therapy to Africans in need.
Ilara Health: Ilara health equips a network of small healthcare providers with lifesaving and essential diagnostic tools to improve the quality of medical care in Sub-Saharan Africa. They are on a mission to redefine primary care across Africa and other emerging markets through novel diagnostics and digital solutions.
ForCardio: For Cardio is a medical platform that enables continuous medical care for cardiovascular disease management and care. ForCardio seeks to make medical care management more accessible through digital technologies.
Klarah: Klarah helps people in the diaspora provide quality healthcare to their loved ones in Africa. Klarah enables experienced nurses to care for patients in their homes based on their needs and proximity through mobile applications and multisided dashboards.
